The Best Eyeshadow Palettes of 2017

To say that this has been the year of eyeshadow palettes for me would be an understatement. I’ve bought so many this year (maybe too many) but brands just keep coming out with amazing palettes! Here are the ones I’ve purchased (all of them being ones that I’ve loved).

Urban Decay’s Naked HEAT

I have the original Naked, Naked 2, and Naked 3 palettes. I never planned on buying any more Naked palettes, because honestly I believe that there are much better palettes out there, some of them even being more affordable. However, when the Naked Heat was being promoted and I started seeing swatches of it, I knew that I had to have it. It looked so beautiful, and I really didn’t have any palettes like it (okay, I have the Morphe 35F which has some similar colors… but I still really wanted it.) I think that packaging is beautiful, and the colors are so pigmented and creamy.

Are there better and similar palettes out there? Maybe, but I’m really glad that I have this one!

I purchased it in the Sephora store, but you can find it on Urban Decay’s site, Sephora’s site, and Ulta’s site.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Subculture

This palette has been so controversial and I really couldn’t decide if I even wanted to bother trying it. When I first heard that they were coming out with this, I was SO EXCITED because I already had the Modern Renaissance and it’s my all-time favorite palette.

Then, I started seeing all of the videos of how “terrible” this palette was… and I started second guessing wanting to buy it.

One day, I was going to Sephora, and I told myself that if they were in stock, and if I was impressed with the swatches from the tester, that I would get it.

Well, as you can probably guess considering this is on the list, they were in stock and I loved the swatches!

I’m so happy that it was there because this is truly one of my favorite palettes. It’s obviously not something that I’ll reach for everyday, but the colors are so unique. Lately, so many palettes coming out are so similar to each other, so I really love that they took a risk and went for a different color scheme than what is currently on the market! Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think there are any similar palettes out there. Yes, you can obviously find dupes for all the colors, but I have yet to see a full palette that is similar.

I truly believe that there was just a bad batch out there of the palette. Are the shadows powdery? Yes, but not any more than my Modern Renaissance is, and definitely not as bad as some videos I’ve seen!

I purchased this in the Sephora store, but you can also purchase on the ABH site, Sephora’s site, and Ulta’s site.

Sephora PRO Editorial Palette

This is truly a palette I was NOT planning on buying. It’s $68, and I never spend that much on an eyeshadow palette (the sole reason that I don’t have a Natasha Denona palette). BUT, I don’t have many colorful and unique shadows in my collection, and I really wanted to. I had seen reviews of this palette and it really spoke to me, so I made the plunge and bought it.

I’m really glad that I did. This is another one that I obviously won’t reach for every day, but I think the colors are something that I really like to have in my collection. They’re bright but also blendable, and very easy to use if you don’t put too much on your brush.

You can find the palette on Sephora’s site.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance

This is a classic, and one that most makeup lovers probably already have in their collection.

It’s perfect for fall and winter (in my opinion) and looks great on almost everyone!

I purchased in Ulta, but you can find it on ABH’s site, Ulta’s site, and Sephora’s site.

Colourpop Yes, Please!

I recently purchased this and haven’t had too much of a chance to play around with it yet, but it’s such a pretty palette! It’s so pigmented and blendable, especially for being only $16.

Morphe x Jaclyn Hill

This was my holy grail palette the past few months. I already loved Morphe but this palette was unbelievably amazing. The colors are a mix of ones I would use every day and ones that I would use for fun days or special occasions. They’re also so creamy (seriously, almost like butter), pigmented and blendable. I highly recommend this palette!

The palette is currently out of stock, but is expected to be restocked soon.
