Fall 2017 Skin Care Routine for Dry Skin

I’ve always had dry skin (sometimes VERY dry), but honestly I never really did too much about it. Sure, I washed my face and moisturized it before putting makeup on, but that was about the extent of my “skincare routine.”

I’ve been getting much more into skincare in recent months, and have found a routine that I’ve been following very well — it has helped my dry skin SO much!

Even if you have a skincare routine that works for you, definitely check this out if you have dry skin, because these products are AMAZING. My skin honestly isn’t that dry anymore, and looks so much better with makeup on now!

Read on to see the steps I take every night, morning, and a couple times a week that have turned my dry skin into somewhat-normal skin!

Wash Face

I wash my face every single night, and am currently using CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser. In the past, I’ve always used foaming face washes, thinking that they were good for my dry skin just because they foamed. I literally had no good reason for thinking this… I just did. Then, I joined a skincare group on Facebook and very quickly found out that foaming products are terrible for dry skin! Someone recommended this specific cleanser to me, and I’m so glad that I tried it out. My skin never feels dry after using it like it does with most face washes. It’s been a huge help in bettering my skin!

Apply Serum

algenist night serum

This is something that I NEVER used to do. A couple months ago, I got the Algenist Recharging Night Pressed Serum in my Sephora Play! box. I had NO idea how much I would fall in love with it. I use it every single night, and have run out of the sample that I received. Luckily, my mom got one in her box as well and wasn’t using it (she doesn’t have dry skin), so I got to use hers too! I’m almost out of that one too :(.

It’s definitely going to pain me dropping $95 on a serum, but I honestly think I’ll do it. This has been the game-changer in keeping my dry skin hydrated.

Eye Cream

I don’t do this every single night, but I do it when I think about it. I don’t personally own an eye cream, but I use my mom’s sometimes — she uses the Bye Bye Under Eye Eye Cream from It Cosmetics. I love that one, I think it’s super hydrating. I really do need to get in the habit of using one regularly, because I know that it’s important!

belif true cream aqua bomb

The last step to my face skincare routine is to use a moisturizer. Every night, I use Belif ‘s The True Cream — Aqua Bomb. It’s SO hydrating that I actually think my skin feels a bit oily after using it! That’s why I love using it at night — it’s perfect for hydrating my skin throughout the night. I could never use it during the day, though… it makes my skin way too shiny and I don’t think it would be great underneath makeup.

Lip Sleeping Mask

I LOVE using the Lip Sleeping Mask from Laneige every single night! I just coat my lips with it every single night before bed. Usually by now, my lips are always super dry and cracked. They aren’t right now, though, and I think this product is to thank for that!

Wash Face

I don’t need to give the whole spiel again, but I also TRY to wash my face every morning, as well. I do need to get in a better habit of doing it every day though, if I’m being honest!

clinique lotion dry skin

I also moisturize my skin every morning, because it needs it. I currently am using Clinique’s moisturizer for dry skin, but honestly I’m not a huge fan of it. I’m really just trying to use it up and then will be switching to a different one! If you have any recommendations, feel free to leave it in the comments 🙂

I’ll do a mask every now and then. Sometimes I won’t even do a hydrating one — I just really think masks are so fun! Peel off ones are my favorite.

Peeling Exfoliant

I LOVE using peeling exfoliants. My favorites are the Gentle Peeling Exfoliant from e.l.f. and the Exfoliating Peel Gel from Boscia. Using one of those 1-2 times a week really helps get rid of any dead, dry skin I have!
